What giving birth costs in Singapore, by ward type
MOH's published bills for 2023 show a typical normal-delivery bill of S$1,346 to S$1,350 in a subsidised ward, S$4,463 to S$6,024 in a private ward at a public hospital, and S$10,815 at a private hospital. MOH's typical bills for an uncomplicated caesarean were S$2,582 to S$3,004, S$8,490 to S$9,839 and S$15,805.

These are MOH's typical (middle) bills for Singapore citizen patients discharged from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2023. Where MOH gives a spread, we show it too.

MOH says its figures include GST. It says public hospital bills are after government subsidy, and all bills are before MediSave and MediShield Life are used. The figures are for Singapore citizen patients. Your own bill may differ.
MediSave can pay part of the bill: S$1,120 to S$2,770 for the delivery
MOH says MediSave can pay S$1,120 to S$2,770 for the delivery procedure, plus up to S$1,130 a day for the first two days in hospital and S$400 a day after that. This is your own CPF savings, not a grant. Source: MOH
