The SG Child Support Package, explained
LifeSG says Singapore citizen children born on or after 1 April 2027 get the SG Child Support Package instead of the Baby Bonus. It gives each child a S$10,000 Baby Gift, S$2,000 a year in Child Credits, and S$5,000 in their Child Development Account (CDA).

What changed: population.gov.sg says the Government announced the package at the National Day Rally on 23 August 2026, with payouts from April 2027. MSF says it replaces the Baby Bonus Scheme and the Large Families Scheme.
The package has five parts, from birth to age 17
LifeSG lists these five parts. It says the Baby Gift, the First Step Grant and the matching are for children born on or after 1 April 2027. It says Child Credits and the top-up at 17 go to all citizen children of those ages.

Baby Gift: S$10,000 cash in the first year
LifeSG says Singapore citizen children born on or after 1 April 2027 get a S$10,000 Baby Gift in cash, paid in 2 tranches within 12 months of birth. The date and size of each tranche have not been published yet. Source: LifeSG (MSF)
Child Credits: S$2,000 cash a year from age 1 to 16
LifeSG says Singapore citizen children turning 1 to 16 from 2026 onwards get S$2,000 in Child Credits each year. The first payout is from April 2027; after that it is paid on the child's birthday. Source: LifeSG (MSF)
CDA First Step Grant: S$5,000 (born from April 2027)
LifeSG says Singapore citizen children born on or after 1 April 2027 get a one-off S$5,000 First Step Grant, paid into the Child Development Account once it is opened. It is for approved expenses such as preschool and healthcare, not cash. Source: LifeSG (MSF)
CDA co-matching up to S$5,000 (born from April 2027)
LifeSG says the Government matches each dollar you save in the Child Development Account, up to S$5,000, for children born on or after 1 April 2027. The account stays open until the end of the year the child turns 16. Source: LifeSG (MSF)
Post-Secondary Education Account: S$10,000 at age 17
LifeSG says Child Credits of S$2,000 a year continue to age 16, and every Singapore citizen child turning 17 from 2026 gets a one-off S$10,000 top-up into their Post-Secondary Education Account in June of that year. Source: LifeSG (MSF)
Cash goes to the bank account linked to your child's PayNow ID, not the CDA
LifeSG says package payouts go to the bank account linked to the child's PayNow ID (NRIC or birth certificate number). It asks parents to set this up before 1 April 2027, and not to link it to the Child Development Account. Source: LifeSG (MSF)
Born before 1 April 2027? Your child moves across in April 2027
LifeSG says for a Singapore citizen child born in Singapore, the Baby Bonus application is part of birth registration on LifeSG. Parents must be lawfully married. LifeSG says enrolled children move to the SG Child Support Package automatically in April 2027. Source: LifeSG (MSF)

Key dates, from 23 August 2026 to 1 October 2027
- 23 August 2026 population.gov.sg says the package was announced at the National Day Rally.
- Before 1 April 2027 LifeSG asks parents of children born before then to link the child's PayNow ID to a bank account.
- 1 April 2027 LifeSG says babies born on or after this date get the Baby Gift.
- From April 2027 LifeSG says the first Child Credits are paid.
- By 30 April 2027 LifeSG says the top-up to S$10,000 is paid, for children born from 14 February 2023 who received less.
- 30 September 2027 LifeSG says the old CDA matching caps end. All caps are S$5,000 from 1 October 2027.
